Round Rock, Texas – Hodyon, LP, a custom manufacturer and worldwide distributor of replacement automotive climate control products and systems, signed a contract with I. Michaels & Associates to complete ISO 9001:2000 certification.
I. Michaels & Associates, an ISO consulting firm located in Austin, Texas, will enhance the existing quality management standards at Hodyon to ensure that the internal standards are compliant with the International Standards Organization (ISO). The ISO 9001:2000 standard is an international reference for quality management requirements and continuous improvement in business-to-business dealings. For a manufacturer, some of the requirements in ISO 9001 (which is one of the standards in the ISO 9000 family) include:
- a set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business;
- monitoring manufacturing processes to ensure production of quality products;
- keeping records;
- checking outgoing product for defects, with appropriate corrective action where necessary;
- regularly reviewing individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness; and
- facilitating continual improvement
"Today's announcement clearly demonstrates Hodyon's continuing commitment to achieving the highest standards of quality," said David Hancock, Chief Executive Officer of Hodyon. "Our management team views this as the next logical step to ensure that we meet the stringent quality standards expected of us by our valued customers. About the ISO 9001:2000 standard
The ISO 9001 standard is maintained by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and is administered by accreditation and certification bodies. It is a generic standard that can be applied to any industry, regardless of the product or service delivered. The standard refers to an organization's structure for managing the processes or activities that transform inputs of resources into a product or service to meet customized objectives, such as satisfying customer quality requirements.
The International Organization for Standardization was established in 1947 with the mission of contributing to economic and social progress. ISO's international standards and deliverables were designed to support the following: facilitation of global trade; improvements to quality, safety and security; environmental and consumer protection, including the rational use of natural resources; and global dissemination of technologies and good practices.
The ISO is currently an association of approximately 149 national standards bodies, each of which represents its own country. ISO employs a system of technical committees, sub-committees and working groups to develop its international standards. For more information about ISO, visit http://www.iso.org.
